Scarpa sideboards on Tottenham Hotspur FC

José Mourinho is the new Head Coach of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season and that's a reason for the Portuguese people to be proud and happy. What most Portuguese do not know is that, before Mourinho, Tottenham Hotspur was already associated with the made in Portugal stamp.

Since 2018, on Myddelton Lodge, a 42,000 ft² world-class eco-friendly lodge facility – built for players and staff to stay, work and play together –, there are 33 Scarpa sideboards inside the bedrooms of one of the best training facilities in Europe.

The living accommodation project, adjacent to the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre, was made by F3 Architects and the design of the scheme includes the conversion of Myddelton farm making full use of its key features and heritage, and the design and building of a crescent-shaped lodge with the use of timber and wood to give a contemporary Scandi feel sensitive to its environment.

The three storeys crescent-shaped accommodation building is situated within the THFC training centre site and is “sunk” into the ground so as to not compromise the natural aesthetics of the site. The accommodation suites form the majority of the lower ground floor and ground floor which overlooks the adjacent training centre pitches and basement level comprises plant and server rooms.

José Mourinho is one of the world’s most accomplished managers having won 25 senior trophies and will now feel like home when he arrives at the accommodation lodge that will certainly help him to build on his strong team ethic and views.

According to The Guardian, after his first day of work at Tottenham, Mourinho stayed overnight at The Lodge and stated that:“If you are trying to find a six-star hotel you couldn’t find better than here”. Welcome home, Mourinho.
