Set your home bar for the holidays

Having a bar at home may seem an old-fashioned thing or a scene from an old movie, but we all now that there are always some wine bottles that we keep for special occasions, a whisky bottle to drink once in a whille and maybe some fancy drinks for cocktails. The question is where to keep it?

If the bottles and the drinks are special, you also need a special place to keep them.

Mey sideboard

Holiday entertaining cooled because of the coronavirus pandemic, but as people welcome friends and family back into their homes, they seem to have turned their attention back to their home bar setups — searches for glassware, drinkware or barware increased in the last two years, while searches for bar carts and accessories are also up.

That's why we developed our own solution, together with the Turkish Berlin-based designer Ümit Caglar: the Mey sideboard.

Mey sideboard

Mey is the combination of a traditional sideboard with a sophisticated drinks cabinet.

The design was inspired by ancient jewellery boxes: simple, neat containers of precious and shiny objects. It hides a reflective surface where you can store your best bottles and also includes an elegant black metal tray-like surface, perfect to prepare drinks and appetizers.

Mey sideboard

The name comes from the old Turkish language and it’s a tribute of the designer to his homeland.

The shape underlines the high quality of the craftsmanship, starting with the curved profile, the wooden door that opens to reveal storage for wine bottles and the drawer to keep the bar accessories.
