The name “Botero” carries deep cultural significance, deriving from Spanish to reference both a craftsman who creates adornments for wine, olive oil, and vinegar, and a “boatman.”

This duality is reflected in the chair’s unique design, which draws inspiration from the world of boatmen. This launch marks our first collaboration with the Brazilian designer Fabricio Ronca, known for his deep connection to art, architecture, and folklore. Ronca’s design philosophy emphasizes the balance of materials, sustainability, and the preservation of affective memories.

Fabricio Ronca grew up in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, where he cultivated a playful and intimate relationship with art and architecture from an early age. Accompanying his mother to the Faculty of Fine Arts as a child, he developed an appreciation for drawing, painting, and sculpture. He later earned a degree in architecture and urban planning from the State University of Londrina (UEL) in 2002 and has been actively working in architectural, interior, and furniture design ever since.

Ronca’s designs are known for their beauty, sustainability, and emotional resonance.
